Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
First let me give you a little bit of context as to why I want to start this Blog:
The purpose behind this is to reach out to guys in the 25-30+ range who need a little bit of inspiration, guidance and real life down to earth perspective on developing their physique, who might have fallen off the wagon or are just looking for a place to start. We can replace anything in life, cars, money, people but the one thing we can’t replace is time, when its gone its gone. Lets not waste any more, life’s too short!!!
So here it begins, I’ll give you the back story as I sit on my 2hr commute to work.
This all started due to a typical conversation I had with a friend after work, a conversation that is starting to become a recurrent theme at the moment, the “I used to look like that” conversation, yep, you know the one, the one where you see a picture of what you used to look like, before life got in the way.
The conversation where you try and justify your transition from fit to fat “I just don’t have the time anymore” and “works just crazy” and then the “I’ll get back into it, won’t take me long, few weeks, tops” and everyone agrees, “yeah mate” as you take another sip of your beer and put your phone face down on the table. That conversation!
So let me tell you a little bit about me, I’m 36, I spent 10 years on and off in the fitness industry as a personal trainer but I now have a “real” job a nice desk job that pays me well with a steady paycheque and a 9-5 life to which I spend 5hrs a day commuting to (which is giving me the time to write this…win!)
The last 6-7 months I’ve noticed a change, I have a few more lines on my face I didn’t notice before, defiantly a few more grey hairs (Not quite George Clooney yet) and Im squishy, Im not fat by any means, but Im not as lean as I was, I still have the shape don’t get me wrong but its not where I want to be and its certainly not like the picture I showed my mate, thats for sure!
So here I am, this is the beginning…Day 1 of making the change, and hopefully this will be day 1 for you too, my commitment is to share not only my own personal journey with you but to impart my knowledge and experience, inspiration and lend support as we go.
I’ll post interesting content, recipes, training schedules and plans as well as answering any questions that you may have, I’ll do my best to act as a support pillar and motivator and I’ll keep you in the loop as we go…..I have plenty of time as I sit on this train!
As a side note, this is my first attempt at blogging….so bare with me! Feel free to post any comments to reach out to me!
Mike
